ahem. take two.
Um, hi. Woman who separated from her husband for the past day (in anticipation of her period) when really it was supposed to be tomorrow? Right here.
I guess I have a little too much on my mind, huh? It's a good thing my husband is so good-natured.
Please, somebody, tell me you've done something this stupid too. :)

Um, yeah. This question was from me. We slept in separate beds that night, because (1) I couldn't call a yoetzet from work; (2) I was too embarrassed to call a rabbi froom home that evening (which should have been a tip-off as to the answer to my questions); and (3) the email response rate from the yoatzot is about a day. I'm sure they all had a good giggle over that question, though.
eden - I THOUGHT I did that recently -- I did a bedikah on what was my veset beinonit (=30 days from the onset of most recent menstruation), and it was brownish/pinkish and in need of clarification - but seemed it would probably be problematic. Right afterwards, I had what I though was an epiphany - "Wait a sec... I think I miscalculated! I didnt have to do the bedika! I actually need to do it tomorrow! %#@*!!"
It turns out I WAS correct in doing it that day, so it's not the same as your situation, but I bring it up to point out how this sort of confusion and doubt about calculations can happen to the best of us. I do keep track of it on my calendar, and double check it, but maybe triple checking can't hurt??
By the way - Michaela - that yoatzot question is *so* not weird/giggleworthy (especially in comparison to others that I have asked) - seems like a very normal one to me.
Hee! Thanks, you guys. I knew you'd make me feel better.
Me, me! I'm not really sure what the point of vestos (or onahs, or whatever you call the separation/anticipatory days) are anyway. I've never once gotten my period on the actual onah. The day before, the day after... once there was a half day between two and that's when it came... the one time I was doing a bedikah because of an onah and it wasn't clear, it turned out I had miscounted and it wasn't an onah after all. (I was still niddah, though, because it was after all the beginning of my period.)
Anyway, yes, it's very confusing, and I have definitely messed this one up myself. I think I even skipped one once by mistake (and did have relations!) because I forgot to check my calendar that day. :-( Don't feel too bad. It's way better than going to mikvah on the wrong day! (No haven't done that one yet, but read stories.)
